I run Laredo to Greer and back. Go home. Disp pissed I go home weekly. He tells me he can’t make money off me running one week out. So here we go..disp doesn’t communicate properly. If u call about your pay or a pay related issue no one answers the phone. And no calls back either to address your issue EVER. Take mileage from you behind ur back. Talk at you not to you. Force dispatch. And your payin for the Qualcomm at $7 a week. Watch your money...they float that too. Short settlements happen and guess what...we don’t answer phones. I shocked this place is part of NFI now and it’s worse.

Pros

I own the truck and drive it.

Cons

All listed above.

They can't keep drivers - OTR driver and keep getting short local runs back and forth to Charlotte in the middle of rush hour - doesn't matter if you drive day or night. Sometimes you will end your night with still 5 or 6 hours left on the clock. LOW PAY!!! 0.40 mile with less than a year, 0.42 mile for someone with 3 + years exp. Miles are low each week, unless you get lucky but that's only maybe once or twice a month vs on a regular basis. Also only pay zip code to zip code and so if you track your miles - you drive approx. 400 miles per week for FREE! So far this year if things don't pick up I'll lucky make 10,000 dollars! Other drivers say they will be lucky if they make $20,000! Looks like they lost another great account Lowes, already lost John Deere - transitioning out - all because they won't repair their trailers or take too long to pick up trailers - Companies like EPES is swooping in and since G&P is ripe for the picking they are taking them out. Night dispatchers are a joke - so is the SHOP, that's if they answer the phone. They will call and tell you your truck is ready only for you to drive or make your way over to the SHOP or the INTERNATIONAL dealer only to find out the truck is not ready - Communication sucks! Also then tell you to go home and wait for a call - supposedly no day cab trucks available for you to use - been out of work almost a week several times - can't pay my rent on that! Then if you complain they don't care and say well you could have driven a day cab and your scratching your head like WHAT???? you guys said there were no day cabs available. Will screw you over in a heartbeat with shop, detention ect pay.... Trailers are in serious need of being taken to the graveyard - drivers don't get paid without a fight to take things to the shop so they don't report problems and just leave it for another driver. Also will tell me I am going to be home every weekend and instead you will get stuck out sometimes only an hour from home but because you work the full 14 hours and 70 hour shift per week you have to wait until after a 10- hour break to make it home, or risk HOS violation even with personal conveyance if it will let you use it. Then you finally get home and have to sleep most of the day instead of spending time with your family and then as soon as the 34 hour rest is up back out again just to do it all over again - NO WORK LIFE BALANCE!

Pros

There are no pro's - used to be but not anymore.

Cons

LOW Pay LOW MILES WORK FOR FREE CRAPPY EQUIPMENT DISPATCHERS play around too much NIGHT DISPATCH never knows what is going on POOR COMMUNICATION SHOP MECHANICS - I don't know where they got their certification because they will "fix" the truck only to have it break down before you barely get out of the SHOP. HOME TIME is negative stars

They have ex-cons like William Kirkpatrick using their trucking business to traffic drugs. They don't do thorough background or social media checks

G&P trucking / Palmetto state transportation

Don't have any personal experience with them but have a friend that drove for G&P for about a year. He was pretty happy there, ran 2500+/- a little a week and made decent money. Said staff was generally easy to work with. He stayed out 2-3 weeks at a time but said he could be home weekly if he had wanted.

He had a few 'incidents' in the northeast that he admitted were his fault and they canned him but he never had anything bad to say about them.

Epes is another good choice as well for students if your school is approved by them. You're in a good area for them with a lot of freight in, out, and through sc. Good place to get solid training, home weekly decent pay/benefits package, good equipment. Good trainers and no team training. I did 3 years there and although I've moved on to a better company still recommend them as a good place to get started.
