Q: Anyone have any info out of canton at Hansen Adkins? I know most freight is Nissan how much is the freight there average also how is weekly pay and getting home weekends? Any help will be appreciated

A: As far as I know they're still hiring in Canton. The rates are decent there, but not great. You should be home every weekend unless you want to stay out.

A: Yeah I was told that from my buddy out of Montgomery that they are alright not the best. I guess to make decent money have to run far loads outta there. Long as I can clear gross of 1500.00 that will be good enough for me...how you liking it still been a while since I talked to you

There's alot more freight and longer runs out of Jacksonville. Usually no matter where you run out of, you can kick out and run the system. Meaning you can pretty much pick how and where you want to run.

Several Jacksonville drivers live in the South Florida area and are home most nights.

Q: there hiring in Houston (company drivers)and I am some what interested. In the ad it said home 2/3 nights a week. On these forums I'm seeing some people getting home everyday ,or home on weekends , or out 2/3 nights a week. As also said average driver 1500/2000 a week. Houston does have ports and rail yards. If somebody can give some info it would be great. If anyone on this forum out of Houston even better, but any info would be great. Thanks in advance

A: I work out of the Birmingham railyard. My home time just depends on how I want to run. Some weeks I'm gone all week, some weeks I'm home every night. Just depends on how I want to run. I average being gone two nights a week and home every weekend. My pay is usually between $1200 and $1800 with a $1400 average. I am working on my 6th month of car hauling, so I'm still learning.

Q: have you ever had damage on a vehicle and what were the consequences.

A: That's gross pay. Damages comes out of your bonus pay

Q: How much are you paying for medical insurance.

A: I'm not sure on the insurance, I'm on my wifes insurance. They pay me $56 a week for not using the company plan. I think insurance for just the employee doesn't cost you anything.

Q: Any body have any info on there owner operator program? I've read you get 89% plus fuel surcharge. Just wondering if it would be a better deal than being a company driver.

A: I subbed for them out of their Orlando rail yard. It was strictly a percentage deal and yes,.. even with my 4 car,. I made more than their company drivers.

I got in over my head, had insurance problems and had to get out. No fault of Hansen and Adkins. A lot of work to go around if you can tolerate getting cars checked in at dealerships all day.

Each dealership had a different rate per vehicle based on the distance from the rail yard.

You have to hustle and work riculously long days to make it. Everything will conspire to work against you. Delays in the yard if the vehicle has any kind of damage or marks, it has to be documented before leaving the yard. Finding the right vehicles in some of the larger yards.. lots and lots of walking. Trying to get the vehicles checked into the dealership who can make you want to go postal while they take their sweet time.
