$.72 cents per mile. $10,000 sign on bonus. My terminal is Pittsburgh, PA. I clear $1300-$1500 weekly.Home when I ask and for how long I want.

Pros

Great pay, people (including ownership on down). Also Equipment runs great and newer and technicans are helpful.

Cons

Day crew and off hour crew from driver manger and shop needs to communicate better.

I work Regional out of the Knoxville,TN terminal and the management there does a great job. You can typically expect 2100-2500 miles a week, but can get more if you want to run on weekends. Mostly Non-Hazmat out of this location but you can expect to pull a few here and there. The Regional Driver dispatcher does a great job, but I can't speak for the "system" dispatch as it is a different employee and division.

Pros

Great Pay Rate, Well Kept Equipment, Good Miles, Management that actually listens to their drivers.

Cons

Health Insurance is expensive, however they're in the process of changing that.

Many of their Driver Managers are worthless... either don’t reply timely or at all, are liars and don’t seem to read or understand messages. Technically, “system” drivers get one day home for each week out, but if you need more I’ve found them to be flexible. Often, the load scheduling causes layovers at terminals and the pay for those days is low. Equipment (system drivers get newer) is good, maintained well and the shop people are helpful. The health insurance is crappy with high deductibles- not good for family. The terminals are just ok, but are kept clean. I’ve recently switched to a new, terrific “seasoned” DM and it has made a world of positive difference in terms of job satisfaction and PAY. At this point I plan to stay a while... there are FAR worse employers out there!

Pros

Good equipment and maintenance, generally friendly and respectful shippers and receivers (exception is shippers in TX), very fair amount of time to get loads delivered, paid time spent at shippers/receivers, reasonable comfort and clean terminals, better than many vacation policy and a line haul team that is helpful.

Cons

Health insurance isn’t good, some (many?) of the DMs don’t do their jobs well (either can’t or don’t read, or respond timely), layover pay is low and too frequent if your DM is lame, driver creature comforts at some terminals is lacking, responsiveness of management to driver concerns is slow.

You will not make what they promise as a regional driver. You have no idea what your load is The night before, the day of you have no clue how long your out. It’s a four tier pay system that does not work in your favor. Don’t believe your recruiter!!!! Research this company and driver beware.

Pros

None at this time

Cons

You will not make what your promised

I've been to their Croydon terminal and talked to some of their drivers and they always seem happy, plus they have a guaranteed pay every week if you commit to being available for a certain amount of days.. I live 5 mins from Rahway, I was looking into them as well.

I have been with them for several months and so far so good. The guaranteed pay is nice, I always hated the up and down paychecks. As long as you follow their procedures you will do fine. They are very strict on that.

I am still with them and they are a decent company but I am looking to go elsewhere. I went with them looking for better home time than otr. It is getting to the point that I am having to stay in the truck most of the week. If you are close to the terminal it might not be an issue but I live an hour away so a 10 hour break doesn't allow me to go home. It wasn't like this at first but has slowly gotten worse. I am out of a different terminal and run a different account so it would be different at your terminal. The guaranteed pay is nice but you will earn every penny of it.

questions about Highway Transport Inc.

I have been with them for a couple of months. Like you I could not find much info on them. Just under 300 drivers so I guess they are not well known yet. All I can say is so far so good. If you deliver on time and follow their procedures then you will be fine. This is my first tanker job but I am enjoying it but there is a learning curve. Also make sure you do not "forget" anything on your application. I saw 1 guy sent home from orientation because he forgot a surgery he had. Everyone there has been friendly and helpful. If you have any specific questions I will try and answer them. Good Luck
