In the year 2024 should NO COMPANY HIRE OR KEEP A RACIST DRIVER ! As drivers we have to deal with all sorts of stupid on the road. However TO be physically assaulted and damaging a fellow CDL drivers home? Their rig ?... unacceptable! I WILL BE SEEKING LEGAL ACTIONS !

Was very happy there until hired a new safety manager from Marten Transport. Her agenda is to micromanage ALL drivers. She's already responsible for castrating all our trucks. I can't even pas s a Swift truck without creating a big fuzz behind me. My paychecks have already dropped around 380.00/wk. Because of that idiot. Been at IRT for several years, and loved this company until they hired that imbecile.

Pros

Pay, trucks, a few dispatchers

Cons

Safety Director, micromanagement

for a driver that's driven for mostly small companies I had anticipated I wouldn't be here long but I've been here for going on almost two years and I don't regret it it's very good company overall to work for the dispatchers sometimes long hold times but they're pretty fair with you if you're fair with them and if you do have any issues you need solved there are people to go to and you'll either get it resolution to the problem or decisions will be made no one makes anyone work anywhere overall I would give this a thumbs up

Pros

Great equipment easy going management great shot personnel most drivers are co-drivers are friendly and willing to help with the exception of the few which is everywhere you go and they seem to work with you pretty good on making doctor's appointment and other personal issues as long as you give them a courtesy of a heads up as you should with anyone

Cons

Detention time detention time detention time that varies its little to no existence but if certain situations you can go to certain people but overall the snow set pay scale that I'm aware of in the year and almost two years I've been here and like any other company you have what I refer to terminal rats were the people that live at terminals that had nothing better to do but to sit and gossip about other drivers but as long as you're doing your drive job those people have no concern, not sure i

This company is not like most big company's. But they suffer some of the same symtons, as in anytime there's a problem they throw more drivers at it this ends up with more sitting, but it doesn't happen slot. If your doing your job they don't bother you I found that you will be treated as treated.

Pros

Great equipment, and service techs, friendly atmosphere, decent pay ,great benefit package.

Cons

Detention pay needs improvement, they have drivers that live at the terminal and are very gossipy, there seems to be a share of favoritism going on there ,there is a quick solution to the ones that just chat away about other drivers lives because they don't have one, invite one to meet off the property ,they never want to solve the problem, long hold times for dispatch.

Indian river transport

I'm in my second week with irt. I'll give you my impressions so far, good and bad. I came here having never pulled a tank.

So far the bad outweighs the good.
The company as a whole seems very disorganized. a week after starting, I received several emails requesting I verify my application. Getting ahold of dispatch is near impossible, unless it's after hours. Truck messages are never replied to. Payroll is only available between 1300-1500. Not very convenient, especially when you wake up Friday to realize your pay wasn't deposited. Orientation is minimal to say the least. No training on tanks or procedures for shippers/receivers. Always giving a specific pickup/delivery time when a lot of times it's open. Was given an older prostar, not a newer Pete. No problem, it's in good running condition, however, it smells like someone urinated on everything and mostly in the air vents. Supposedly, they'll get me into a newer truck very soon. The customers seem to have 0 respect for irt, often making us wait while loading/unloading others ahead of us, even if we were there first or have appointments. Double check directions to customers. They've been incorrect 3 out of 4 times so far. The trucks do go 70, which is a plus. Maintenance is great from what I've seen so far. The terminal in winter Haven is huge, not cramped like some companies. Nice drivers lounge but no showers. They will allow you to bobtail pretty much whenever the trailer can be dropped securely, such as at a customer or while you are at a terminal. This comes in handy at times. They don't bug you at all if you're doing your job. No apus in trucks, but also no idle policy. If I can think of more, or answer questions I will post more.

Update..just found out pay is deposited after 1630..again, not convenient considering if you're pay is incorrect you'll wait til Monday to fix it, because payroll is only available mon-fri 1300-1500. Also, anytime you call any department for anything, don't expect a friendly helpful voice. You'll be treated as if you're interrupting them and you're a nuisance. I didn't make a ton of $ at Boyd Bros, but they treated us like family- always kind and helpful.

IRT Indian River Transport $1500 BONUS

Just finished day 1 of IRT orientation. So far I'm happy with the way they don't waist time getting you the info you need, road test, physical, paperwork, bennifits, videos all done and still got outta there by 1600. Was pleased to learn the bonus is still going on. 750/30-750/90 works for me. Not sure what trucks they will offer. Have seen a lot of Pete 579 on the road but there's a mixture of all sorts in Winter Haven terminal so there's no telling......I'm still gonna ask for the 579 though. All they can say is no. The FL are nice too, shifts good. The Internationals I saw looked worn out but heard they pull good. Not so much concerned about how they pull just wanna be comfortable if I'm gonna be out 3-4 was at a time. All have fridges due to tank samples that need to go to customers. So far I like it, ready to get my dispatch and get moving.

Indian River Transport- The journey begins

I just started with Indian River Transport today. The people seemed nice. There were no surprises. I know about the wait times with these guys loading and unloading but I still found some drivers that were happy. I figured I would give it a try.
I was given a 2014 freightliner with only 60k miles on it. Its a very nice truck.
I am sitting here at TG Lee in Orlando waiting on my first load. The load is going to Murray KY.
I have pulled tanks hauling chemicals just never food grade. This is going to be a new adventure.
I have been on this forum before just thought I would come on here and tell you how my journey with Indian River goes.
Maybe I should go take a nap it might be a while on this load. Thats fine it doesn't deliver until 21:00 Sunday in Murray KY.
I will give you good and bad as it happens.
